‘Vital’ Review

Director Amir Zargara goes into the depths of desperation and motherhood as he tackles the lengths of what a mother is willing to do to help her daughter in a small yet riveting short film.

The film revolves around a woman trying to sell some of her organs to help save her daughter from a life-threatening illness. It’s not surprising the lengths that a mother will go to keep her child safe and free from harm and even though this film proves to be short in its scope, it certainly has a harmonious and beautiful take on the subject matter.

The performances are natural and prove to be like walking into a small city and being involved inside of a story that you never knew you needed to hear. It gives the audience a deeper meaning of other people and how to show more sympathy.

The cinematography is standard but also mesmerizing in how it captures the beauty of the scene and the pain and suffering in the characters’ faces with every disappointment that they face.

Zargara’s direction cannot be forgotten as he gives a sensitive side to a serious subject that has been handled with great care and respect and very few directors in the industry are able to do that.

All in all, this short film proves to be a heavyweight even if it has a light length and prides itself on quality over quantity which is something that many filmmakers and films lack today.
