Jared Morgan Interview

I was able to sit down and talk with Emmy-award winning producer Jared Morgan, as he talked about his work as the owner of Morgan Media.

Richard: What is it that you do as a producer?

Jared: I wear a bunch of hats right now, Right now, I am a full time active army. I work for a military band and I produce video for them, but I also am right now, I just wrapped up for the Annapolis Symphony, I working currently for the Baltimore Symphony and I’m doing a lot of freelance stuff for the Kennedy Center, doing video engineering for them and, of course, I’m always doing whatever video editing projects, like video editing is my bread and butter, but you were asking me about producing?

Richard: Yeah, producing.

Jared: What specifically did you want to know about it?

Richard: Where did you get your start and what led you to that career path?

Jared: I got started in TV as an editor. I would say that’s where I got my chops. It’s kind of interesting. It’s a long story but the point I want to make about it is, I got my start at what was called CSTV at the time. It eventually became CBS Sports, but the point about it is that I had gotten there because I just talked to people. One of my professors had said that my kids were playing soccer and there was this guy I met and he said that if you ever want to come on set, and literally, just going and meeting that guy started this whole whirlwind of things. You eventually transition out of the edit room and then on set, whether it be directing, shooting yourself.
